Happy New Year! I know how cliche it sounds to say, “I cannot believe it’s 2012!” but…
I cannot believe it’s 2012!
In case you don’t follow my tweets or Facebook (what?!) – which totally outed my location over the past 10 days – we’ve been in Florida. I didn’t want to broadcast the trip ahead of time and invite would-be ruffians and thugs over to my house.

Did you make any 2012 goals?
I did. And I’m sharing them here – publicly – so you’ll all keep me accountable.
1. Project 52. I’d love to have you join me! Here is the page with all the details – Project 52.
2. Pushup challenge. 1 pushup a day the first week, 2 a day the second… leading to 52 a day by the final week. Yeah. I cannot even do one.
3. Pare down all the toys, books and clothes in this house. That task will be huge. First world problems, right?![]()

Darcy…remember when Y2K was the big event…and even fear? It’s difficult for me to believe that we’re 12 years beyond that already. I like your push-up challenge plan; it might be something I can try. I just had a hip replacement in late September, so I’m only now getting back into some kind of exercise beyond my two months of physical therapy. Upper arms weren’t included in that therapy….but push-ups would be great! I’m also going to de-clutter my house—the sooner, the better. I’m leading up to some redecorating, eventually. Out with the old!
I’m going to go easy ( I think), be thankful more, complain less. It might be hard actually. But that is my goal. Life can be hard and I find that if I can be thankful, I can get through the hard times. And I will continue to shoot and practice and plan.
serious organizing going on over here! one room per month..this includes painting walls..our plan is to remodel the downstairs….. but on the rooms we plan to remodel at a later year…we will just organize it! oh and we may be headed to Disney World……shhhh the kids have NO IDEA! we also have been seriously praying about the direction we should go in ministry on our church…for now until we get some answers we are being faithful in the “llittle” things. we belive that 2012, is going to be the year of a whole lotta surprises =0)

My goal is to work through the Bible daily listening to the verse by verse Bible studies from Pastor Joe Focht at Calvary Chapel Philadelphia. He’s funny, interesting, speaks to parents AND grandparents, and shares so much interesting background and history info. Even my grandson loves him.
That, and keep plugging away with grandkids and photos and life. Happy New Year!

Florida looks lovely! Some of my favorite pictures over the years have red eyes or are blurry from enthusiastic models. My sweet shot this week is one of those. Thanks for sharing those shots.

What a fun trip- Disney & the beach- can’t beat that!!!!!
Congrats on the push up challenge! I’d NEVER been able to do a single one until I started working out with a trainer this summer. Here’s what I learned. Start on your knees (with something cushy underneath them – it kinda hurts at first), then get a bench or something at a higher level to begin. Slowly lower your hand placement until they are on the ground. Eventually, you’ll get there!!!
PS – I have tiny little arm muscles for the first time in my life. Wahoo!

That beach looks like such fun! I would never leave! Good luck with your push-ups. My goal is to hone my photography skills with classes. (I started exercising in Dec to beat the rush.)

i stick with the girl push-ups. they’re my friend.
You should see my sad girly pushups. They aren’t even girly. They are like infant girl pushups.
Maybe if… no WHEN… i stick with it and i’m all buff next december i can look back and laugh??

Hi Darcy, love the photos from your trip. I remember the very first time I saw the ocean AND visited Disney World, I was so excited to experience both …. heck, I still love going to both as a seasoned, twenty-something!!!

I’m also doing a 52 Weeks project, only this one is writing notes, letters, correspondance, etc to friends, family, strangers, etc. It’s called 52 Weeks of Letters or 52 Letters, 52 Weeks, I’ve seen it both ways. I’ve never done it before but I’m a huge fan of greeting cards and I love stationery, so it’s right up my alley. Send me your address and I’ll send you a note!

I did not make any resolutions this year. I suffered a stroke last year which completely changed me.
I want to live my life to the fullest each and every day.
But I do want to take pictures as much as I can as often as I can.
It’s always nice to have goals as long as we don’t beat ourselves up too much when we don’t accomplish them.
I just found your blog and I am really enjoying it.

Dear Lord, I’m so glad you clarified the pushups are weekly! I thought it was 1 more every day!!! I was wondering if I was really going to be able to do 365 on New Years Eve next year! Phew!
The girl who inspired my pushup challenge did do 365 on the last day. But she did (@annieology on twitter)
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps (which is 100 pushups). Not all at once.
I think once i start getting later in the year, I’ll need reps too.
But me doing 365 pushups??? That made me laugh out loud. If you could only see the sad state of affairs now.
Your goals are totally attainable. I have been in too much of a brain fog to articulate what it is I want out of this year yet but I’ll get there. Eventually.

We just got back yesterday from Fl and disney too! Fun fun!!
I don’t have any resolutions for the year. Perhaps the only real goal besides completing my to-do list each day is to be more hospitable. I was spoiled with life long friends back in Texas… ones that already know me and require no explanation or heads up before I drop by. And now I’m here in the middle of the Pacific and need to make more of a concerted effort to be friendly… as in taking the initiative to invite people over more often. This whole getting-to-know-people thing takes a lot of work when it is so easy for me to be a happy little hermit!
Oh and push-ups… I’m not that great at them… I blame my double jointed wrists and elbows.
Can you do a pull-up? I have never in my life been able to do even one. Talk about a Presidential Fitness Challenge Failure!
LOVE your push up resolution, it sounds so “do-able”… except that I can’t manage one push-up either. P’raps it’s time to roll my sleeps up…

And re the reorganising/streamlining, I read somewhere recently a way to do this is to set a tier for 10 minutes and then get a bin liner and chuck out 27 pieces of useless/trashed/unnecessary/ugly clutter each day (or do it in the wardrobe for the charity shop). Apparently after a week or two, the streamlining starts to seem much more manageable. I’m hoping that it works for me next week cos I have to move house in Feb!!!
uh-oh… got down in my push up, but couldn’t get back up again… maybe I’ll have to approach this even more gently!
Totally happened to me, too! On the first day, I couldn’t get back up. It took me a couple tries.
But yesterday, I really did 5. I was on my knees, but well… baby steps.
