Announcing: 31 Days of Photo Tips

You may remember that last year, Nester assembled the most fun, gorgeous, remarkable, exciting, little motley crew and somehow convinced us all to blog for 31 straight days about a subject we were passionate about. Out of that little pep talk grew 31 Days to a Better Photo – which is essentially a 101 course for new photographers. Can you believe it’s even being used in a couple US High Schools as a photography curriculum now? It’s become an instrument of photography education I had never dreamed it could!

Well, Miss Nester has worked her magic again. She has assembled eight diverse, wonderful women and talked each one into blogging for 31 days in October. Girl is persuasive, I’m tellin’ ya!

Wait, it gets better – she is encouraging bloggers from all over to join her. She has put up a linky on her gorgeous blog (yeah, I’m biased!) and wants YOU to play along, too. Write your post announcing what you’ll be talking about 31 days, then go link your post to Nester’s link. Throughout the 31 days – these 7 other women and I will also be having a linky on our blog, so you can also refine your niche and link up with any one of them, as well. What does this mean for you? Camaraderie, traffic, excitement, and yeah, a bit of discipline.

What can you expect here at m3b?

31 days of Photo TipsAnnouncing 31 Days of Photo Tips.

Well, no need to reinvent the wheel with a 101 course, so I’ll be expanding with photography tips, ideas, suggestions to make you more successful with your camera. It won’t be as intensive as 31 Days to a Better Photo (lawdy! phew!) but it will assume you already have basic working knowledge of your camera, so I’m hoping it’ll be like Cliff’s Notes (remember those?!) to a 102 course. I’ll also be talking about editing, post processing, tools of the trade, and stuff to making pretty photos easier.

Join me and these fantastic bloggers in October:

Nester – 31 Days of Charming Imperfection

Jen - 31 Days to Balancing Both Beauty and a Budget

Jessica – 31 Days of Memory Keeping

Melissa: 31 Days: Inspired Holidays

Sandy: 31 Days of Keeping the Family Together

Darcy: 31 Days of Photo Tips

Emily: 31 Days to Change the World

Emily: 31 Days of the Little Things

Hope to see you all in October and I hope many of you will participate this year! We’d love if you help spread the word and encourage a whole 31 days movement.

Can’t wait!

Brave, brave woman… when I took on the Blogapalooza (24 in 24 hours), I was exhausted… I wonder what content I could actually generate to sustain 31 posts. Looking forward to seeing your tips. Did you ever get that e-book designed?

    • Darcy says:

No. I’m such a slacker. Or something like that. I think it’s still in the works, just need to find a moment to sit and conquer rewriting some of the material after feedback from those who have worked through it.

Rachelle, you could totally do 31 days. You are exactly who this kind of thing is perfect for!

  5. Marisa says:

You’re either brave or crazy. . . that’s a ton of work! 31 Days is what brought me here last year, and I have since acquired a D7000 and a few lenses. I’ve been shooting in manual since March. Bring on the tips! I’m ready!!

  6. Kristen says:

I read Nester’s post earlier and couldn’t wait to see what your subject would be. So excited to have your teaching again. I’m going to have to suggest using your 31 Days to a Better Photo for a homeschool high school co-op. I hadn’t thought of that!

  9. Megan says:

squeeeeeeee! SO EXCITED! Seriously- last years 31 days was what really made it “click” in my head, when it came to shooting in manual. I have sent A TON of friends (and random people) the link to that series in hopes that they will get out of it as much as I did.

Im so very excited for this next series! Thank you, Darcy- for taking all the time away from your family and business to do this for your readers. Youre the best!

  10. Betsy says:

Totally echo what Megan said. I started taking pictures this past January, and my daughter pointed me to your series. I keep going back to it, and have encouraged others to do the same. Can’t WAIT to see what you have to share. Really looking forward to reading your tips.

  11. Debbie says:

I’m excited to follow along. The last 31 day series you wrote was wonderful. I’ve been using picnik to resize my images ever since reading about that. I hadn’t realized how large my photos were and how long they took to download. That was the best tip for me.

  12. Jude says:

can mine be “31 days of Sarcasm”? cause really, that is my talent ;)
just kidding, looking really forward to your tips!

  13. OK – you ROCK! Can’t wait to see what you will be teaching in October. Not to mention see what you would change from the first one you shared. Which I have given to many HS students myself to help them learn as well! It is perfect for the beginner :-D I learned many things from it as well :-D

    Thanks for all you share!

  14. Jenny says:

These sound great! October is NaBloWriMo (National Blog Writer’s Month) with the challenge of writing 31 posts a day. I’m definitely going to be participating with NaBloWriMo (will be my 3rd year to do so)

  19. Roby says:

I’ve only just recently found your 31 Days To A Better Photo after recently buying a 60D and now your telling me your doing another one! Best start catching up! BTW I love how you did pics for the Aperture/DOF post – it’s in a language I can truly understand and has been instrumental in my grasping the whole Aperture thing. We are at the end of the day here in Australia, but I have every intention of doing the “Tackling the DOF” project this weekend when it’s nice and sunny. Hopefully I’ll get to this years tips before this time next year! ;-)

  23. So excited about another round of 31 Days!

  24. Dawn Shiree says:

I can not believe the providence that led me to your site! It’s a long story… but in short my blog needs dusted off and my photography skills need sharpened and I had already decided that Oct 1 was going to be the first day of a 365 photo project for me. This will give me the motivation and accountability to stay on track during the month of October…. which I desperately need! I can’t wait to put your 31 days of photo tips to good use and maybe I’ll even consider writing my own 31 days series in the meantime. So glad I found you!! :)
