Giveaway: 4 winners, Homeschool Conference Family Passes

I went to the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cinncinati in 2009.

midwest homeschool convention

It was such a well-needed get away. Meeting other families who do this every day, who understand the 24-7-365 of being a homeschool family and the unique challenges and rewards it presents was awesome.

I met this hottie and fell in love:

ruthanne and darcy

I appear to be throwing myself at her on this photo. Not much has changed. She remains one of my nearest and dearest friends, and likes me in spite of myself. Love you, Ruthanne.

I met Edie at the homeschool conference after stalking her on her blog forever before that. Edie has become like a neighbor to me (in my pretend neighborhood filled with all the bloggers I love and wish truly lived next door). This photo was the start of a friendship I hold dear.

These gorgeous girls and I had so much fun together! I cannot say enough good things about Amy and Marsha – who were my roommates and conference-mates and were confident enough to strike the Charlie’s Angels pose together. You may know them better as the Tour de Force behind Heart of the Matter Online. Miss you both!

Amy Marsha

we are such dorks!

I am so embarrassed for us!

Why should you attend a homeschool conference?

Yes, the silliness helps! It’s wonderful to meet other (normal!) families who love books like you do. Who know exactly why you’re on your 3rd math curriculum in 3 years and the pressure and glee you feel about school. A conference assembles the authors, curriculum stars, your favorite vendors, brand new ideas, old favorites, and lots and lots of inspiration. Blowing off steam with awesome HS bloggers doesn’t hurt either!

My pal Brennan Dean and I have partnered together to give (4) Four family Conference passes to deserving winners to attend one of the following conferences:

  1. MidWest Homeschool Convention – Cinncinati, Ohio
  2. NorthEast Homeschool Convention – Philadelphia, PA
  3. MidSouth Homeschool Convention – Memphis, TN
  4. SouthEast Homeschool Convention – Greeneville, SC

“HUNDREDS of information-packed homeschooling workshops that are led by a group of outstanding FEATURED SPEAKERS – unlike any other homeschool convention. For instance, this year’s roster includes Dr. Susan Wise Bauer, Ken Ham, Amanda Bennett, Dr. Jay Wile, Tricia Goyer, Michael Clay Thompson, Carol Barnier, Todd Wilson, Dr. Carol Reynolds, Andrew Kern…and many more! (You get the idea?) For those that are interested, there is a Worldview & Leadership TEEN Track led by John Stonestreet. And, there is a PARENTING Track that is led by either John Rosemond or Tedd Tripp.

Three (3) of the four (4) 2011 conventions also provide the option of enjoying a performance with comedian TIM HAWKINS – LIVE at the convention. And, you can literally shop-until-you-drop in a HUGE Exhibit Hall that is packed with the very best in homeschooling curriculum.

REGISTER FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN

We’re giving away four (4) Family Registrations, and the four (4) winners can choose which convention they’d like to attend. The “Family Registration” is good for your entire immediate family (Mom, Dad & kids) PLUS Grandparents) If you choose one of the conventions where Tim Hawkins is performing, you’ll also receive free TIM HAWKINS tickets – if you’d like them. “

If you’d like to win here’s how to enter, leave a comment for EACH one that you do:

  1. Leave a comment saying why you need a get-away!

I’m a homeschooling mom to two busy little girls. My husband works about 80 hours each week so that I can stay home with my girls. A break? Yeah, we need one! Thanks, Darcy!

My name is Cynthia Moss. I have 5 and 3 year old boys and we are homeschooling the 5 year old for Kindergarten. My husband travels a lot with work so I’m home alone with just the boys quite often. That’s why I need a getaway!!!! Plus, I’m really trying to decide whether to continue homeschooling or not. Feeling a little overwhelmed and under-prepared!!
    Thanks for the opportunity!!

  13. I’ve only been to one small hs convention and would LOVE to attend one of the *biggies*. And I just finished packing up my entire house and storing it for at least a month while we are in between homes….I definitely need a getaway! :)

  14. Danielle says:

I could use the getaway from my first year of homeschooling. I don’t have many friends that home school and my kids father is against what I’m doing, so I feel like a recharge would give me perspective and support that I could really use right now.

  15. Renee says:

I would love to win a pass to the South East convention. We are moving to a rural area as soon as our house sells and I am considering putting the kids in a private school. I am praying for discernment and waiting on the Lord. Maybe he could use this conference to build connections and encouragement me to press on! Thanks for this giveaway! What a gift!

Hi Darcey! I would love a homeschool conference get-away trip with my family. I’ve heard the Ohio conference is gigantic and awesome. I wanted to go in 2010 but had a conflict with a homeschool competition my son was in. I could use a get-away as it’s been such a stressful fall topped off by my husband losing his job out of the blue. Conferences are probably not in the budget this spring so, a free trip would be fantastic. Thanks!

  26. Amanda C says:

Oh, I would so love to win tickets to the Cinncinati conference! By the time I add up hotel, gas, tickets for all of us, etc it becomes a little too much for us to afford right now, but if you take out the price of the tickets for the family it is very doable! And what a great little escape for the whole family. My girls think that staying in a hotel is positively magical (and I have to admit that I do too – no cleaning, dishes, etc for a few days!!). Thanks so much for this chance!

  27. Lizzie Rosenberg says:

I would loooove to get away and spend time with my family and just relax instead of run run running all the time. I would love to go to the PA one!

  32. Diane says:

I so look forward each year to going to a homeschool convention and getting encouragement to help me through the remainder of the school year. Most years we go to our local one in Atlanta, but wanted to branch out this year and go to the big convention in Greenville, SC. Can’t wait to go to some workshops and visit the vendors. Please enter me in this giveaway.
    Blessings
    Diane
