I hope you all had an amazing holiday. We are still in 100% vacay mode – my hub is home all week. But I can’t wait to hear all about your new lenses, cameras and photo stuff… and better yet… see the results!
You may all *gasp* to learn my new Christmas present is… a Canon
I’m still a Nikon girl through and through since my work cam and lenses will remain firmly in Camp Nikon. But my new little toy is Canon and perfect for my purse and fun pics for Facebook and Twit-pics.
Isn’t she cute?
She shoots auto if you don’t feel like dealing, but also shoots in Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority or fully manually. And priced at under $200 right now – well, can’t beat that. Sometimes you just don’t want to lug around $$ cam equipment. KWIM?
In other news: I’ve had a couple winners not come forward – remember when there is a sponsored giveaway, the winner is announced the following week. Please check and see if YOU were the winner of recent Sweet Shot Tuesdays! I’m also starting to line up sponsors for Sweet Shot Tuesdays in 2011. If your business is a good fit, shoot me an email.
I’d love to hear what Santa brought you! What was your favorite gift you gave this year? What was your favorite gift your got this year?
Your turn!

No new camera paraphernalia here, but am very chuffed that you have crossed over into Canon land
And I do know what you mean about lugging gear. I scored an iphone for my birthday and am getting used to whipping that out these days as I just can’t be bothered lugging anything bigger.
My fav gift? After many years of admiring all the little Christmas villages that people display, the kids took it upon themselves to buy me a little house. Very cool.
I’m firmly in Camp Nikon, no worries there. But admittedly, Canon has a better p&s market.
Someone forgot to tell Ashton Kutcher.
I’m so excited to get my Nikon 35mm 1.8! It was a complete surprise from my hubby. The most exciting thing I gave was the Vintage pearl Necklace I gave my mom.
My gift I gave? An ipad to my hubby….he’s in hog heaven. My fav gift received? My ipad…I’m snorting right alongside him
How cute are you two?! My hub and I did that one year, too!
My favorite gift was my 24-70mm lens – LOVE IT!
Putting together my best of 2010 sweet shots. Will be up tomorrow and others can link up to share theirs too!
Thanks again for all that you put into teaching others in 2010! You truly helped me in many ways Darcy!
Happy NEW YEAR!
Love and hugs,
Jill
My Light Scoop from my sister. It works really well, especially if one hasn’t invested in an external flash yet and for the money you can’t beat it! I requested and received an extension tube (12mm) but decided that I won’t be satisfied with the macro ability or lack of, so am returning it and biting the bullet to get the 60mm macro 2.8. Can’t wait!
You’ll love that macro lens, Susan. I use it often!
muhahahaha!!! welcome to the canon family!! i have been looking for a new P&S camera and have been thinking about getting one of these compact hybrids!!!!!! that’s a pretty good price too!!!
Of course it was $250 before Christmas! Now’s the time, I think!
My very early Christmas present was a Nikon D90 (my first DSLR!)… and then my Porteen Gear camera bag arrived on Christmas Eve! =)
My parents gave me a Silhouette! I was ecstatic, though I have yet to come up with my first project to use it with! My favorite gift I gave would probably be the movie tickets (paired with some of her favorite candies) for my hubby’s step-sister. She’s 16 and said she didn’t want anything this year, so it was quite a challenge to come up with a gift for her, but she LOVED them and said she wants movie tickets every year now!
My Christmas gift was an iPod touch – I’ve already bought several camera apps! And you will love your little Canon camera, they take great pics.
i’m a nikon girl, too, but not for any logical reason. i’d love to know why you prefer it?
no camera gifts thi s xmas, but thinking of lensbaby for my bday in a few weeks… any thoughts on that? gosh, i’d love to pic your brain on photo things!
congrats on the canon!
Team Nikon: Easier white balance setting, and I like having more focal points because I’m not a big fan of focus and recompose. But all in all, Canon is a great company – I tease only in jest.
Not sure what a lensbaby is? I’ll have to Google it.
For me, what the I Pod touch I gave my son. You will have to go see his reaction. Totally made my Christmas.
My hubby let me rent a lens for Christmas week, and it’s been fun.
Love your new baby. I have the older version, it’s great.
Happy New Year Darcy♥
Yay for you! For a point and shoot Canon has always been my favorite. The only one I owned for years. I love my Nikon D90 (got it in November) , but have much, much, much to learn. I’m still studying your 31 Days posts.
Favorite gifts given – Keurig coffee machines to my daddy and my husband.
Favorite gift received – an unexpected beautiful watch from my husband.
I think these are my favorites because they were complete surprises to all involved. That’s hard to do in our family.
I’ve never entered a photo before – hope I did it correctly! If not, please help me! =)
I got the new Nikon D7000. I love it. I did receive it a little early though. That little camera is so cute. How do you see if you have won during sweet shot?
On my sidebar I have a category just for Sweet Shot Tuesdays past. Let’s see if I can link it here:

My sweetie got me a Gary Fong collapsible diffuser for my SB-800. You have no idea how much this excites me.
I’ve only used it on Christmas day so far, but so far – so good! Wee!!
Ohhhh yes, it makes prettttyyy light! Enjoy!
That’s an awesome Christmas present – I got a new Jo Tote and I love it!
Fun! Which color did you get?
we are a Canon Family here.
and neither of us got camera paraphernalia this holiday. odd.
Favorite gifts given – Vibram 5 finger toe shoes- to my middle son
Favorite gift received – The Ninja Cookie Cutters & Handmade bracelet from my boys
I have to Google what that is.
Merry Christmas!
I have last year’s model of this camera and I love it! In fact all the food shots on my blog are taken with this camera. I’ve never had an SLR, so I can’t compare, but I’m sure you’ll love it as an everyday hardy utility type of camera.
Joined up for the first time. My new years resolution is to do a lot more photography. Maybe a 365 project or at least link up here and a few other places a lot more often! Thanks for hosting this.

I did a P365 in 2007. It was a lot of commitment. I decided to do a P52 in 2011 – one shot a week, I can handle.
So stoked to be participating this week…it’s been awhile. Glad that y’all had a good Christmas!
Favorite gift given~ Photo books, especially for out of town relatives.
Favorite gift received~ Time. My dad kept the boys yesterday and the Hubs and I got to have some time together. We needed it! (In close second is a new lens for my camera…hooray for gift cards!)
Hi Darcy. I hope that you all had a fabulous Christmas! Have fun with the new camera.
xo*tricia
I got my first DSLR for Christmas and I am sooooooo excited! (I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m still excited!!!) I got the Nikon D3100 and now I’m on the hunt for a cute camera bag to put it in. Any suggestions?
Thanks again, Darcy, for hosting this fun link-up each week!
Blessings,
Sue
Yes! You can’t go wrong with Kelly Moore. I love that hers look like handbags instead of screaming, “I CARRY EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT IN ME. STEAL ME!”
There’s a link on my sidebar to her bags. I love the aqua and red ones. But she has a purple one that bloggers have been oodling over.
I totally KWYM!! A little camera is just right for the everyday shots you don’t want to miss!! And the Canons have always been good to me.
Hooray for you!!
Hey friend,
! Sorry to go back a post to leave a comment…I just couldn’t write about such trivial stuff on Edie’s post. I’ve been heartbroken for her for days…
Just wanted to let you know that I sent you an email. I think I remember you saying that I could leave a comment for you here and let you know that I had emailed you (since you would not be checking email til the new year). If you get a second to respond, thats great, otherwise I will just wait to hear from you in the new year
Amy
I emailed you back! xo!
I got a surprise Nikon D3000 from my hubby! He sacrificed his Christmas present so I could get this thing…now…if I can only figure out how to use it!
What a guy! That’s a great gift!
oooohhhh…thanks! I will check it out!
