Absolutely. There were 4 books that really helped me understand the technical stuff. The first 3 are from Scott Kelby. Digital Photography books 1, 2, and 3. The last book was Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. If you read, then reread those books, they will give you a great start.

Darcy, my dear, thanks for weighing in on the camera discussion. I already asked your opinion, so know full well you are a Nikon girl all the way. And ha! I haven’t made up my mind, that’s why I put it out there. I did want to hear all the opinions from Canon & Nikon users alike. And of course, after hearing from everyone, I think Canon got the most votes, but Nikon is pretty tempting too. One of my good friends here in town, her son has told me to get a Nikon too, so I may get him to go camera shopping with me and show me what I need to know. I will definitely go out to the stores and hold them in my hot little hand before I make a final decision. And yes, I do plan to take that bad boy off Auto. What fun would it be to just shoot in Auto all the time, when I have a big gun camera to play with?? I do want to learn all the features, once & for all and maybe I’ll finally know all that photog lingo too.

And really, my mind is not made up at all. In fact, it’s even more confused than ever now. So, I could go either way. It may be awhile before I pull the trigger, but I’ll definitely let you know.

It’s funny you say that, I learn a lot about my own eye for photography by what shots draw my eye, too. I was just thinking that earlier today.
