Advertising: Flip flop flippity flop.

If you’re in a reader, you may not have noticed… but after polling my readers, pacing my kitchen and really thinking about it, I brought the ads back. I’ve never been one who giggled all the way to the bank with my ads. I know some bloggers can and do really make a nice chunk of change with their ads. For me, I’ve always rolled it back in to the blog itself… give aways, contests, etc.

Have you met Gussy yet? How about Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy? Do you know about Lisa from Lisa Leonard Designs? Or Erin from The Vintage Pearl?

If you’ve said yes to any of the above, it’s because of successful blog advertising. And no, none of them paid to be there. They are just perfect examples of talented business owners I’ve discovered because of their blog marketing campaigns.

And there is something magical about watching these entrepreneurs succeed. I like shopping from etsy or big cartel for gifts or photo props. I like supporting ambitious and industrious moms. I feel a kinship with crafters and work-at-home moms; I know the kind of dedication and balance it takes to run a business from home. It’s nice to support each other. I know there are other talented, crafty, work-at-home moms and bloggers just waiting to be discovered.

So, the ads are back. I’ll deal with the FTC. And to be totally honest, I hired a new tax guy – who I totally love – which helps makes this all very easy. To me, the trade off is worth it if it means promoting families, moms and businesses I adore.

So, tell me… what’s been your favorite blog-find? Who have you discovered because of blog advertising?

I heart your stuff. They make my photography subjects so cute. Not to mention I stick them in my hair. Makes the cutest messy buns. You’ve done a great job with marketing in the blogosphere.

Good for you! Don’t be afraid of big bad FTC. I think it’s a workable thing. Slap a disclaimer on your site, and BINGO.
