Anyone else feeling kinda ho hum? I’ve been a good little worker girl, putting in odd hours. The boys are going to get the mange soon if I can’t get them a little vitamin D. It’s been a cold, blustery, icy, and blizzardy few weeks. We’ve been holed up, and it’s starting to take its toll. I shot these images this morning…

So, I thought… wouldn’t it be fun – in the vast country of ours – to see what everyone sees out their back yard these days? Who’s up for an impromptu MckLinky??
So, show off your amazing weather, or empathize with mine, and show us what you’re lookin’ at from your windows. Invite your readers to link up their photos, even if they’re looking at sunshine and palm trees.

Oh sure, Darcy. You issue the challenge when everything here is completely and utterly BLAH!!! I mean we get cool, spiky frost like that. Just not right now. Of course, as is SO often the case when I have an attitude, God drops a lesson on my thick head. Today it was about perspective.
And I DO love your spiky frost shots. I love spiky frost. I love to examine it very closely and marvel at the detail and God’s creativity.
I saw your pics and thought for sure they were taken in my backyard! Then I realized your a fellow Iowa girl and I had to comment! Just found your blog and LOVE it! Hello from Ankeny!
We’re practically neighbors!
I love these! I think they are beautiful. I would trade my sunny warmth for a day of frost and cold.
They look like itty bitty icicles… lovely detail! Our lovely snow melted today into brown mucky bleh scenery… So I was happily pleased with my distant cloudy sunset… Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share it!
Oh! I took tree pictures just like that last Friday (well, my pictures are never going to be as good as yours), but I haven’t had a chance to post them yet. Today it’s just blah as the snow continues to melt.
This looks like fun! What a variety of photos! The branches you shot are gorgeous! We’ve had a warm up (and by warm I mean 40) and so our backyard is it’s usual muddy mess. Sighhhh… If I can get a decent shot of it I’ll link up tomorrow!
Oh gosh. This makes me wish I were a photographer!
I love love love the icy branches. I’m sure it’s much easier to love them from afar. . . I remember those cold, cold days in Michigan with three little boys. It’s a funny thing–if you ask my kids about living in Michigan, they’ll wax eloquent about how much fun it was and how we don’t ever get snow in North Carolina. Ask my husband, and he’ll tell you that he does not AT ALL miss scraping off his windows each morning. I remember particularly bad morning when he came in and said to me, “Right now I’d pay $50,000 for a garage.” Now that was a lot of money back in the early 90′s.
Oh well. My back yard looks pretty barren right now, with none of your beautiful ice sculpture. So thank you for sharing yours.
Love the B&W and bokeh! Great captures!
Okay, I played in dream land here in NC…
Fun Picture Challenge! Its pitch black outside – REALLY stormy, 60 mph wind gusts, 40 mile per hour sustained, thunder and lightning. So – Ya. I’m not going out there, but on the McLinky post, I took some photos a couple of days ago, and on the Beach Blog – I posted pics of yesterday’s walk.
Our backyard is looking pretty sorry right now. Frozen water/snow in spots all over and destruction from a puppy with little desire on our part to go out in the cold pick up after her. Ugh. No pictures here!
I’m loving all the warm locations pics~wish I was there for a visit:)
Great shot! The frost was beautiful yesterday. The ice today, pretty but not as nice.
We live in the same state so our shots are very similar.
our yard looked like yours! i’ll have to go out again today. i’m hoping a branch doesn’t fall on me. our birch is sagging pretty bad with the weight.
Stay safe! This ice is insane!
Wow ~ Love those photos!
May I suggest a house swap . . . for about a week. We would love the snow!
I’m a goober {but you already knew that} and put my e-mail address in wrong.
You are a goob. Love ya’ anyway.
The boys keep asking – Why are you taking pictures of the yard mom . . ?????? Because, She wants me to.
Ha ha.
Hello Ansel Adams! I am reading this at 11:50pm and it’s storming outside. Otherwise, I am sure I would not be too lazy to go take a photo of our now-overflowing above ground pool that takes up our entire backyard. Seemed like a good idea in the summer…
Darcy,
Your pictures are amazing!!
Hello! Yesterday I stumbled onto your beautiful site (I can’t even remember how I got here — don’t you hate when that happens?). When I saw your post I realized I had posted backyard photos last week on my blog, so I hope it’s okay, I linked up with that slightly older post.
Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous!
No hard and fast rules ’round here. Glad to have you participate.
Thank you!
Oops, I forgot to leave my comment last night. I was a little distracted being ‘hunkered down’ under the stairs (tornado watch) and all. Funny, the weather can’t change so quickly. Tons of rain here now, soon we’ll be back to the good life of walks and park hopping. Have a good weekend…I’ll be busy reading my photography books. Oh and the hubster’s not my biggest fan right now. Apparently he doesn’t like me spending oodles of $ the month after Christmas. :/
GREAT shots!!…..we’ve finally thawed out, and have had rain and fog. I hope it’s ok, I just linked to my flickr account, I don’t have my picture on my blog…..but I added your link in the photo description – that I’ve linked it here!!
My daughter and I had fun getting some umbrella shots yesterday when the rain stopped, but the street was wet!
Flickr is a perfectly acceptable way to share your images, me thinks.
Love your shot!
oh thankyou for doing this. I enjoyed all the photos. Please do this for all 4 seasons! btw. luhloo.
