Children’s Photography: 2 year old photos

You know that saying terrible twos? This kid got none o’ that. Fo’ reals. Now… his mommy swears he hit them at 18 months, but I took his pics to celebrate his recent 2nd birthday and he was nothin’ but angelic.

Can’t you just feel his personality?

You’re so awesome! I seriously want to be like you when I grow up. :D

So, how did you get the background – fabric?

Pst! In your bottom note, eachother needs a space. ;D

    • Darcy says:

The background is a big roll of paper hung on a dowel. It’s made for photographers, and it’s an inexpensive way to make a seamless, unobtrusive background.

I’ll try to get a pic of the set up for you.

It was a gift from my Handy Man. Um, on his birthday. Hmmm, maybe it wasn’t for me after all…

  2. Ruthanne says:

Good gravy! I can’t believe I just typed that in a comment. Did that sound really AR or what?!

  3. Swimming in Awe girlfriend! Your a total rock star. : )

    Darcy,
This little guy is adorable. How fun! You did an awesome job – I can just see his little 2 year old personality written all over him. Very cute!

  7. Heather(Simply Grand Central) says:

    Darcy,
These are spectacular. My favorite is the black and white.
I too am curious about the white back drop.
    Great job!

  8. Susan Keller says:

    Darcy-
I love that you captured the giggle in his eyes!!! Such darling portraits… :-D

  9. Question: About your lenses, which one is your favorite? I just bought the 50mm 1.4 and can’t wait to play with it. I would love to know which lens you used on the first pic and what your aperture was set to.

    Thanks! :)

    • Darcy says:

That’s my fav, Beth. I love the 50mm 1.4 (not to be confused with the 50mm 1.8). These were all shot with that lens.

I will throw the image in LR and look up the specs for you. I don’t remember off hand.

  10. Lou Ann says:

    Oh my goodness!! How precious!

  11. Marsha says:

Oh how precious!!! Love how he’s smiling even with his eyes!

And Ruthanne, yes that was quite AR. LOL Just like me.

  12. Sharon says:

They are wonderful!! yes… please spill… what kind of backdrop? :)

  13. Hey! Ruthann, I AM from AR. We’re not all uneducated! ;-)

The pictures are amazing. Maybe he was soo-oo good because he’s really 3? I mean, it looks like the cutie skipped right over the year. My now-2-year old doesn’t look nearly so 3-ish. Or maybe it’s just my wishful thinking.

    • Darcy says:

He’s my nephew, so I can pretty much promise he’s a brand new 2 yo. The suit makes him look like an older man. I’ve got some of him tackling a cupcake with his little boy belly and he looks much younger.

    • Ruthanne says:

Wendy ~ I’m from Arkansas, too (still live here actually)!

As I actually wasn’t making fun of our home state just then, I have been known to do so on several occasions ~ strictly in love though. I have a strict policy of only making fun of things I love. ;D

  14. TONS of personality. I love it!

  15. ha! No worries; I was kidding. I do tend to make fun of my home state, and thought she was doing the same. ;-)

Okay, I trust you on his age! He looks adorable and so grown-up in “big man” clothes. Great job with the photos!

  16. Sisterlisa says:

    What cutie pie!!!

  17. MelodyA. says:

Aw, you did him good. Very sweet shots.

  18. Cute, cute, cute! Great birthday present, too. :-)

Please leave a comment; I love to hear from you!
