In case you hadn’t guessed – I’m in Cincinnati. I am typing from the Millenium Hotel which is right across the street from the convention center where the conference is held.
It was a bbiiiiiiiggggg convention hall.

And several days of workshops. I finally got to hear Susan Wise Bauer – one of my homeschool favs. Maybe next time I’ll get a photo opp with her, but they had her on a pretty tight schedule here. And admittedly, I was a little star struck.
I got to meet several bloggers and some homeschoolers without blogs – although not all the pics of blog friends turned out, and since I wouldn’t want people to post pics of me with my eyes half-closed – I won’t post them. I was so glad to meet bloggers and homeschoolers and the girls from the Well-Trained Mind. I met dads in line and moms in workshops – each trying to do their very best with what they know. It is invigorating to see so many moms and dads forging a similar path. So Julie, Denise, Karabeth, Karen, Angel, and others – it was great to meet you. Thanks for making me feel this is a great and worthy path… to keep doing what I’m doing. You made this trip so much… more.
I met Ruthanne and her hubby. We had fun giggling together at the back of the workshops. I almost didn’t post this pic because she has this fabulous, gorgeous head of hair and I have airplane-head in this pic.

I got to meet Edie from Life in Grace. She is every bit as beautiful and full-of-life as she shows on her blog.

Then my roommies! I know many of you have met my cousin Amy and Marsha through their blogs. Oh, man. It just doesn’t do them justice. However sweet, fun, funny, humble, real, interesting they may seem on their blogs… they are so much more in person. I wish you all could get a chance to know them and love them like I do.
Here’s mah girls.

We didn’t have any fun at all. None whatsoever.

The Duke Convention Center and Midwest Homeschool Convention did a great job as hosts and coordinators. It is definitely a trip I’d love to do again.
See ya’ next year!

Hey Darcy, It was a pleasure to meet you! Thanks again for encouraging me to attend. Sometimes people who live near something take its finer points for granted. For instance, when we lived in TN we were home to visit relatives and decided to do all the tourist stuff. We were shocked at what our hometown had to offer that the natives knew nothing about. I’m afraid that was almost what happened this time.
See you next year!
Darcy,
Yeah, that was me above. I should proofread. Anyhoo, it was most wonderful meeting you and it was certainly one of the highlights of my trip. I’ve been stalking this blog of yours for so long! You are so geniune and warm and such a great representative of everything I love about homeschool moms. Keep up the diligent and noble work of teaching your children.
I will certainly feel like ‘old friends’ when I visit your blog from now on.
And Susan Wise Bauer rocks!
Hugs and much love,
edie
Oh, yes, I can tell you had absolutely NO fun. Great photos! You’re beautiful, Darcy!
And I think I’m ready to get back in the queue and re-vamp my website. hehe
Hi, just stopping by! I had to tell you that you and the ladies look so beautiful! Great photos! Looks like you had a great time!
I forgot you were here. Hope it was a wonderful convention and trip.
Uhhhhhhh Uhhhhhhhhhhhh…..You and Amy are cousins…Now that’s just COOL! I had no idea…
I was close…I grew up in Pittsburgh….WOW they look alike in the pics…
Looks like ya’ll had a blast!!
Lori
I am so glad you all had a great time. Those timer pics turned out great!! Ha Ha
I love the pics of y’all in the hotel!
You seriously need to crop me out of the picture with Marsha and Amy. What kind of expression is on my face?!? That’s just plain awful.
Love ya, chicka.
Oh, I just know I would love Ruthanne IRL, and Eddie is a sweet as they come. I got to meet her at blissdom but should have spent way more time with her.
Glad you had a blast…wait… I mean you had no fun at all.
Our NC book fair is that huge as well. How did you get an aerial shot. I will want one of ours.
You were supposed to make an UGLY face in that one pic! Making a monkey face just isn’t as cool when you’re the only one doing it.
Zowie, that was such a super-fun time! You have a talent for pics, a way with words, and a passion for your children that I greatly admire.
Looks like way too much fun! Hopefully one of these years I can make it out to that convention.
Love the pictures!! So fun! It was nice to meet you too!
Grace and Peace,
Angel
Austin is impressed with your remote control camera. And the cup made out of chocolate.
That’s all he has to say about that.
Ok I’m SO going next year!
Oh-oh– I LOVE all of your pictures, especially the silly ones. That’s the key, you know, to staying young and gorgeous– never grow up!
Looks like you had a blast! What fun to get away with fellow homeschoolers!
