Darcy,
Oh bless your little heart for such a much needed post. Especially for a newbie homeschooler like myself. It was timely and refreshing for my stressed out frazzled self.

I was also wondering if you have a blogroll? I can't find it on your new site and I'd like to know your circle of homeschooling support. Thanks!

Thank you for keepin' it real. If anyone asks me about some of my days as a homeschooler, I would be one of the first to admit that it's not always easy or even some days desirable. No need in always painting the most rosey picture when the need is stronger to be real.

That was lovely .. and so spot on.

No matter what setting you are doing it in, or who's kids you're doing it with, teaching can be frustrating, overwhelming, and disheartening.

Homeschoolers have a few great advantages .. the flexibilty, the freedom and the fun. Embracing that can help a lot in the day to day frustrations.

I saw my mom struggle to reproduce public school at home because she felt she needed to prove something. I saw her drop it all and go totally unschool because she was too stressed with keeping up the appearance. And now, 15 years later she's finally found her stride. If only she'd been able to relax on her method and just enjoy the experience more when we were younger .. it was still great for us kids, but it would have been a whole lot easier for her.

Wow, this comment is long winded .. sorry! I'm a rambler..

I left a comment there, but wanted to tell you here, too...thank you! I have never portrayed myself on my blog as a perfect homeschool teacher with perfect organization or perfect anything! I needed to hear your encouragement today. Thanks!

Not only do moms feel frazzled but so do the kids. If my 4th grader tells me one more time he is bored I am going to pull my hair out.

I just keep reminding him that the sun will shine soon and it will be sunny enough to go outside soon. I really think cabin fever brings us down more than anything.

This is only my second year, but I think I will start earlier next year with the heavy work load and take nice long breaks in February. This year though I feel too far behind for such a break. I just keep looking forward to May when I am guessing we will be done for a nice break.
