LWM3B Year In Review

As 2008 draws to a close, and I look on to 2009 with great anticipation. I offer you, the dear, sweet readers who still visit me… a year in review of lwm3b. Since this is a recap, my pics are sized to fit the old blog.

January:
I publicly humiliated myself by coming forward with this picture, circa 1985.

February:
Somehow, I tried to redeem myself my posting a pic of Handy Man and me about a decade ago. He looks so little there. In some ways, it seems like yesterday and in others… it seems like a lifetime ago.

March:
In March, this blog grew up and got her very own vanity URL. If you haven’t updated your bookmarks and subscribed, you are now officially 9 months late. Also in March, then 4-year-old Trouble gives himself a haircut and has a bald patch on the front of his head for the next couple of months.

In April:
Handy Man and I had our first date night in years, and he took me to see my favorite Canadian crooner, Michael Bublé. That was a fun night. I also got to fly down to Texas in April to meet my dear friend Jennefer from Smooth Stones Academy. I’m hoping for another get-together in ’09.

May:
We have two birthdays in May. This year, Trouble turned 5. Later this month, Einstein turned 8. Already he looks so different from his birthday pictures. Losing baby teeth really changes faces!

June:
Weeks of seemingly unending tornadoes followed by record floods felt a little like a bad Hollywood Armageddon movie. Our area was wet, but our home was undamaged. Cedar Rapids and Iowa City were not so lucky. In good news, we finally saw green and flowers from all that rain. I also got an early birthday gift – my new BFF – the Francis!Francis! X5. A coffee lover’s toy.

July:
BlogHer08 was in San Francisco. Pretty and crazy. It’s in Chicago for ’09. I saw a famous bridge. Handy Man had a birthday – and we went to the balloon fest to celebrate.

August:
I love August during Summer Olympic years. This year, the super star was a hometown hero – Shawn Johnson – which made the event even sweeter. The gymnasts were classy in spite of cheating, and the Hungarian costumes were hilarious.

September:
Picasso turned 7 and we celebrated medieval style.

In October:
Apparently the public humiliation of the Ghostbusters stunt has worn off, so I decided to make a video blog. Please still come back.

November:
Milestones and Preemies and Vampires, oh my! We celebrated one-year hospital-free for Trouble; coincidentally, during Prematurity Awareness Month. The Twilight movie came out, and I went with my friend *rk* and singlehandedly we brought up the average age in line by at least 2-3 years. Obama was elected and my father had a heart attack the next day. I’m sure those two events aren’t related. *snort* He’s recovering nicely. The jury is still out about the White House.

December:
Ah, already drawing to a close! December was the first vacation Handy Man and I have taken together in 8 years sans children. MOBS got married to a hottie fireman, and Handy Man and I smooched on a Mexican beach. LWM3B got a makeover and Handy Man got a new camera (me too!). Sadly, we will say goodbye to my aunt on Saturday. She will be missed.

I compliment each of you who got this far on your tenacity. I thank those of you who giggle along side me. I enjoy all of you and wish each of you and your families a safe, healthy, happy and prosperous 2009.

First of all thank you for the idea to review the year like that. I was wondering what I was going to do. Now I know–steal your ideas.

    Works for me…

But second, you are so darn cute in that picture!!! I love it…

even though I was graduating in 1985

    which would make me…

old. Which of course would explain the gray hair…

    and achy joints! ha ha
